The immediate objectives of the Law Forum are two-fold :
The projected attendees of the Law Forum are drawn from a wide base. The aim is to create an event that is attractive to scholars at all stages of their careers, including:
There are numerous advantages to such joint meetings. For the price of a single air fare and several nights hotel, participants at the Law Forumhave access to many different activities and benefit from interaction with a larger number of colleagues. The Law Forum has the advantage of multiplying the number of participants as well as promoting stimulating intellectual exchanges, both formal and informal. The first Law Forum was a half-day event held in Quebec City on May 27, 2001,in the context of the annual meetings of CALT and the Canadian Law and Society Association. A meeting of the Council of Canadian Law Deans (CCLD) was held in Quebec City during that same period. The Law Forum, which was held in the morning was followed by a conference organized by the Law Commission of Canada. Details of this first forum can be found in the program for the 2001 CALT Annual Meeting. The 2001 Law Forum was very successful and a second one was held in Toronto on May 25, 2002. Details of this second forum can be found in the program for the 2002 CALT Annual Meeting. Information relating to the next will be available on this site in the fall. Associations wishing to become involved should contact either rousses@umoncton.ca or france.houle@umontreal.ca. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
